Automatic import of licensing information from Microsoft CLP reports
One of the most time consuming tasks for any compliance manager is to enter existing license and purchase information. License Manager now features the ability to import vendor license statements and the first format supported is the standard Microsoft CLP vendor compliance report.
During processing, an entitlement document is automatically created for each set of purchases that share the same supplier, recorded date, and purchase order number. Using SKUs of the purchased items, the Online Software Catalog will provide data to License Manager to automatically link the catalog items to the purchased items, greatly automating the initial setup.
SAM and compliance managers are now able to spend much more of their time on Software Asset Management or license optimization.
Support for Microsoft licensing models
True license optimization means being able to compare and utilize many different license models to understand and optimize cost savings. To help organizations both track their license usage and make better decisions about future needs, License Manager now provides support for Microsoft CALs, whether in per user, per device or per processor models.
License Manager allows the comparison of licensed CALs against predicted usage to help optimize licensing. In addition, Centennial Discovery has been enhanced to provide the number of processors. License Manager can now allow servers and applications to be licensed per processor with the ability to set the number of processors licensed.
